Sharon A Feder: TESKNOTA

TESKNOTA is a live-steam video voice performance 2020 that premiered at Terror on Tour 2021 Online. Curated By Gabriella Calchi Novati. Tesknota is an in-situe performance designed for zoom with split screen between two camera views, one stationary and one mobile. It explores primary narcissism and the maternal imaginary, through a rereading of Kristeva, and inspired by the legend of the Black Madonna of Częstochowy in Jasna Góra monastery in Częstochowy, Poland, the birth place of my maternal grandmother. BIOGRAPHY

A performer, director and scenographer, Sharon Feder creates cross-disciplinary theatre, performance and installation. Her devised work explores the site of convergence of different artistic forms, new and old sound and image technologies, as well as solo and collaborative processes of artistic creation.

Whether created for a stage, a gallery or site-specific, Sharon's work puts the body on display in atmospheres of felt reflection, critical risk and inspired intensity drawing on both improvisation and structure, strategy and surprise. She has treated varied themes from the memory of the holocaust in “Testing”, to homesickness in “Nostalgia Trip Tic”, and the transformative process of creation in “Destruction Etc.”

Sharon's approach combines: 1) Foundational training and education in classical text based-theatre with the B.F.A. (Bachelor in Fine Arts) program in theatre-acting at the University of British Columbia (Canada); 2) Artistic collaborations in image-based theatre and extensive training in improvisation, object work, choreographic theatre, voice performance and extended range vocal technique with Pantheatre and The Roy Hart International Artistic Centre (France); and finally, 3) Studies in scenography in L.E.M. (Laboratoire d'Etudes du Mouvement) at the International Theatre School of Jaques Lecoq (Paris), followed by a M.A.S. (Masters in Advanced Studies) in Scenography from the Zurich University of the Arts (Switzerland).
